Copyright

As you know we have had discussions in class about using music in the music video brief. Well OCR have just produced this document to clarify their position. http://community.ocr.org.uk/core/community/public/download_file?rid=2640 It clearly explains that as far as they are concerned it is ok to use existing songs. They will not deduct marks for this. However they take pains to state that they cannot be held responsible for any problems that using existing music might cause for schools and individuals. It seems their main worry is people putting downloads for a track that they don't own the rights for onto the website that they might produce as an ancillary task. I can see that record companies and publishers would take a very dim view of this.

The document also includes a lot of links to copyright free music on the Internet, including Moby's site. He famously allows people to use his music so this site and some of the others might be worth a look.
